Veteran on loan striker Steve Basham returned to knock his former club off the top of the table as ten-man Hayes & Yeading United recorded a shock victory over Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium.

Basham claimed his first after collecting Craig Watkins pass midway through the opening half and clipping his finish off the inside of an upright.

He then headed in Adam Green's corner two minutes before the break, although the visitors were reduced to ten-men when Esmond James was sent-off five minutes into the second-half.

Five minutes later Simon Clist reduced the deficit with a left-footed strike, but heavy subsequent pressure from the hosts failed to bring them further reward.
