A wonderful day in York City's history as they contest the Division Three Play-off final with Crewe Alexandra at Wembley Stadium on 29th May 1993.

After a scoreless 90 minutes the game went to extra-time. York-born Gary Swann finally earned his hometown club the lead on 104 minutes before they suffered late heartache when Dave McKearney converted a last-minute penalty after a handball by substitute Steve Tutill.

An epic match was therefore to be decided by a penalty shoot-out. John McCarthy, Paul Barnes, Tony Canham and Nigel Pepper were all successful for York, whose goalkeeper Dean Kiely saved from Gareth Whalley. And then up stepped Wayne Hall with the chance to win promotion with one kick of the football ...
