Adam Smith signed for York City from Gainsborough Trinity midway through last season following a successful loan spell with the club.
Winger Smith hails from Huddersfield and was born on 20th February 1985. He originally joined Chesterfield from school and turned professional in 2004.
Smith went on to make a number of senior appearances for the Saltergate club, whilst also having a loan stint with Lincoln City in 2007-08. But he was released by the Spireites at the end of that season.
He moved to Gainsborough in July 2008, and later became manager Martin Foyle's first signing for York, joining them permanently on 26th January 2009 for an undisclosed fee.
