Pat Lally was a fluent and attacking midfielder who had two seasons with York City between 1971-73.
He was born in Paddington in 1952 and later served his apprenticeship with Millwall. But he managed only one senior appearanbce with the Lions and moved on to York in July 1971.
His strong and powerful runs through the middle soon became a feature at Bootham Crescent. He helped York twice avoid relegation before being transfered to Swansea in July 1973.
Lally made over 150 league appearances for the Swans and also went close to that mark with his final professional club Doncaster Rovers.
A fine player with natural ability who suffered playing in a struggling side.
