Leading marksman Richard Brodie has been passed fit as York City travel to AFC Wimbledon this weekend.

Seventeen-goal Brodie took a knock when playing for the England 'C' side in Poland in midweek and there were concerns that he may miss the game against the Dons.

However, there appeared to be no serious damage and he trained with his team-mates upon his return, although manager Martin Foyle was concerned about fatigue affecting him.

“Brodes had a sore foot but nothing major," he told The Press. "The bigger worry is how tired he looked on his return. He did not sleep very well and the plane was delayed on the way home and he’s absolutely shattered.

“People perhaps don’t realise how much these trips take out of you and we will have to see whether he can last a full 90 minutes.”

The Minstermen also include striker Michael Gash in their squad after he made a welcome recovery from a foot injury sustained at the beginning of last month.

“He scored a goal in the practice match we had at the training ground this week and brings something different to the table in terms of holding the ball up and bringing our midfielders into the game." Foyle added.

Foyle could be tempted into changing into a 4-3-3 formation in an attempt to give his side greater solidity in the middle of the park.

“Both Richard Brodie and Richard Pacquette can play down the sides so it is something we are looking at,” he confirmed.

Wimbledon expect leading scorer Danny Kedwell to pass a late fitness test after recently limping off during their FA Cup defeat at Millwall.

On loan forward Luis Cumbers is also back in contention after suffering from bronchitis, but fellow striker Jon Main is struggling with a calf strain.

Definitely ruled out are goalkeeper James Pullen and centre-back Alan Inns, while skipper Paul Lorraine and defender Derek Duncan are rated doubtful.
