Sheffield Wednesday have denied a possible approach for York City's leading goalscorer Richard Brodie.

Brodie struck his twentieth goal of the campaign last weekend and is reported to have alerted attention from several clubs, amongst them Huddersfield Town, Peterborough United and Wednesday.

But Hillsborough boss Brian Laws has denied any potential move for the Gateshead-born marksman, despite his side currently struggling just above the relegation zone in the Championship.

“At the moment, I’m not looking further than the players we have at the club," Laws told The Press.

“We are monitoring other players with a view to January but I don’t know where that rumour (about Brodie) has come from at all. That’s completely out of the woods.”
