York City boss Martin Foyle has confirmed that Chris Carruthers has extended his loan deal from Oxford United.

Carruthers was preferred at left-back to James Meredith at the weekend, but then appeared to be at fault as opponents Crawley wrapped up a 3-1 victory in the closing moments.

However, Carruthers has now signed on at KitKat Crescent for a further two months and until the re-opening of the transfer window in January.

Foyle told the Press: “Chris Carruthers is staying for another two months and I’m pleased with that.

"I thought he played well (at Crawley). He was a bit unlucky because I felt he was fouled for their third goal, but he gives us quality on the ball.”
