York City's leading scorer Richard Brodie and central defender David McGurk are expected to miss the rescheduled trip to Newport County next week.

The contest should have taken place this weekend but was postponed due to the bad weather. Permission is now being sought from the FA to change the provisional date for a rearrangement from Monday to Wednesday as the situation is unlikely to alter in the next couple of days.

“Richard Brodie hasn’t trained at all this week because of bruised toes and David McGurk still has a sore calf from the Stoke game," manager Martin Foyle told The Press.

"I think this match will be too soon for either of them, but they would definitely be fit for Hayes and Yeading in the league next Saturday.”

Foyle has already stated that he does not intend resting players for the visit to the Blue Square South leaders.

He added: “We wouldn’t be looking to make many changes. These are hard games as we saw at Hinckley.

“I’ve watched Newport and they are a very mobile side with bright strikers.

“They grind out results in their league on a regular basis.”
