Former York City striker Andy Bishop is facing a second operation that is expected to keep him out for another six weeks.

Bishop (26) scored sixteen times for Bury last season before undergoing a hernia operation during the summer.

But he has since been restricted to only six more appearances and now faces the prospect of further surgery.

Shakers boss Alan Knill told the club's website: "Andy now has abductor problems which is in the groin area.

"He had a double hernia operation in the summer and whether this has followed on from that is unclear."

Bishop left York in May 2006 after scoring 34 goals in 83 appearances.
