York City boss Martin Foyle hit out at negative comments arising from within the Main Stand during the 1-0 FA Trophy victory against Corby Town at the weekend.

The Minstermen struggled to dispose of their plucky Blue Square North opponents on a difficult and heavily sanded pitch, with only Andy Ferrell's second goal of the campaign - a disputed 40th minute penalty - finally separating the two sides.

“The fans behind the goal are great, but I’m disappointed with the moaning from the Main Stand," Foyle told BBC Radio York. "I find it hard to understand when we have gone since last April without losing a game of football here.

“I’m here to protect the players and we can do without the negativity. There are a lot of positives at the moment and more to come. People are shouting ‘pass the ball’ but how can you on that pitch? People who have played the game know you can’t take chances on that surface.”
