York City manager Martin Foyle was impressed with on loan defender Chris Carruthers' performance at Luton Town in midweek.
Carruthers' rather inactive loan spell from Oxford United is due to end after the trip to Crawley Town on Saturday week, but he was finally called upon to replace the suspended James Meredith at Kenilworth Road.
He was then given a really hard time of it down the left flank by the Hatters' most outstanding performer on the night, French-born winger Claude Gnapka.
However, Foyle was impressed by Carruthers’ full debut as he told the Press: “It was a hard game for him because Luton are very, very right-sided and, having watched the DVD, they only went down the left flank twice.
"But Chris competed well and, on some of the occasions I thought he was at fault, it was actually their full-back who was putting the crosses in.
“He was outstanding in the second half, especially as he was on a yellow card. He stayed disciplined and cut out the source.”
