York City manager Martin Foyle was left reflecting on what he called a 'scandalous' penalty decision that cost his side their recent unbeaten record at Salisbury City.

The Minstermen's undefeated ten-match run  was finally broken after former Salisbury defender Djoumin Sangare was ruled to have brought down Matt Tubbs inside the area on four minutes.

Tubbs wrong-footed Michael Ingham from the penalty spot for the only goal of a contest dominated by the visitors.

Foyle told the Press: "It was a scandalous penalty and so harsh because Jimmy Sangare toe-poked the ball away.

"We played some outstanding stuff after the first 20 minutes but our finishing was poor, which I haven't said many times this season. We hit the bar again as well so it wasn't our day, but they rode their luck and ended up with three points.

"We did not start the game right and looked lethargic," he added.

"In five out of the last 12 games we have conceded the first goal and I don't think we're right defensively away from home, so I've got to look at all the DVDs to pick a side that will get some points on our travels."
