Foyle rues missed chances

The visitors spurned a number of opportunities during a second-half that they totally dominated to leave them now without a win in their last seven games.

"We didn't get the three points that we thoroughly deserved," Foyle told BBC Radio York. "I thought we played some excellent football. In the second-half we penned them in. It was a strong wind first-half, there's no question about it. We decided to defend it and then push forward second-half.

"But we've had enough chances to win again. And you look back at the Forest Green game and the Salisbury game - it seems to be costing us at the moment in terms of points.

"There was a lot of good things. But it just puts us under pressure now going to Mansfield. Then we've a cracker of a game with AFC Wimbledon on Saturday. So it's all there still for us because obviously they're the ones we need to take points off.

"But I just think some of the chances - there was some golden sitters there today. Sometimes you just wish you had your own boots on and getting out there amongst them to try and help them really. Because the play deserved a goal, no question about it."

Leading goalscorer Richard Brodie went closest to that when being denied by home keeper Stuart Coburn early in the second period.

"He [Coburn] brought a fantastic save off Brodes when the ball went over the top there," continued Foyle. "It was a first-class save and you can't argue with that sometimes. But the general play was good, we got balls into the strikers' feet, which we've been working on.

"I've got to try and find a winning formula, haven't I? And I have chopped and changed again, but that's my job. I can't just let it run along. I've brought Paul Harsley (far right) in as well. Neil Barrett hurt his hamstring in training yesterday. Everybody seems to be going down at this moment in time, so it's a tough time for us. But, hopefully, that is a performance that we can take into Tuesday's game."

Newcomer Harsley is a vastly experienced 31-year-old midfielder with more than four hundred senior appearances to his credit and has arrived on loan from Chesterfield for the rest of the season.

"I just felt previous three, four games, I didn't think we really wanted to get on the ball and express ourselves," said Foyle. "He's come on as sub there, but it was right in there amongst the action where it was very, very quick  and  the tempo was high. But 'Hars' will settle us down, he's a good football player. And at the moment I need people who actually want the ball."

His arrival is certainly well-timed as York now face the loss for two games through suspension of midfielder Levi Mackin, who collected his tenth booking of the campaign.

Foyle added: "His last four or five have been silly. And again it's another silly one there. I wasn't going to play him today. Neil [Barrett] was playing but pulled up yesterday. I wanted to leave Levi for Mansfeld and Wimbledon. But it's cost us and those decision makings are poor. We need to grow up very, very quickly."
