Manager Martin Foyle claimed it was a "fantastic" three points for his record-equalling York City side at the weekend.
Chris Carruthers' first goal for the club together with leading scorer Richard Brodie's twentieth of the campaign was enough to clinch an eighth successive victory against Wrexham, which matched the previous record set by the famous 'Happy Wanderers' side in 1955.
“It was a fantastic three points in an important game because of the two-week break," Foyle told The Press. "We struggled at times but defended well and they didn’t create much despite putting us under pressure.”
He continued: “You have to win games like we did (on Saturday). People thinking you can win every match 2-0 or 3-0 need to wake up because every game I see in this division is very close.
“Earlier in the season, we played some outstanding football but sometimes you have to change your game a bit on more difficult pitches. Defenders are paid to defend and we have four midfielders playing tight together.
“Maybe we need to look at opening up in the next home game, but you also need discipline and to keep your shape and why would I want to drop anybody from this side at the moment?”
