York City midfielder Alex Lawless is expected to be out of action for around a fortnight after suffering an injury during a surprise first home defeat of the season to Eastbourne Borough.

The former Forest Green Rovers midfielder limped off after pulling up short with a suspected hamstring problem on the half-hour.

However, manager Martin Foyle later described the injury as "not as bad as we first thought," and said that Lawless would probably be ruled out for around two weeks.

"It's a big blow isn't it?," he told BBC Radio York. "He's been one of your star performers, he's the one that can actually open and create.

"But it's not as bad as we first thought, which is great news and so we will just have to monitor that. Hopefully we are not looking no more than the two-week mark."
