York City assistant manager Andy Porter believes his side must develop the killer instinct in order to gain the edge over their Blue Square Premier play-off rivals.
The Minstermen currently stand in sixth place and remain unbeaten on their own ground, while only losing three times on their travels thus far, including somewhat unluckily at Salisbury City, where they totally dominated the contest after conceding an early penalty ."It's early doors yet but we've just got to keep going and these big teams who we've played – we've come out with points," Porter told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
"But it's these other teams fighting and scrapping for these play-offs that we have got to do something with. We can't take them lightly.
"We were very disappointed with Salisbury and we have done everything we could," he continued.
"We have hit the post, put it over the bar, this that and the other and missed a few chances.
"Oxford came up and we were very pleased with that, with how we played, but not getting all three points is what made that a little bit disappointing.
"Then the other night we have gone to Luton, confident again and that's what we needed, to keep the run going.
"We set the early tempo, frustrated them and got that early goal but then in the second half, they have thrown quite a few forward and just when we were looking ok, they got the goal.
"But then, in the final minute, we had a good chance with Brodes (Richard Brodie) and he could have just sealed it for us.
"At the end of the day, a point from those two games each, we're satisfied."
