York City reserves held Hull City to a 2-2 draw at the Tigers' training ground on Tuesday afternoon.
The hosts' ranks included a couple of former England squad players in Jimmy Bullard and Anthony Gardner, while their opponents were largely comprised of youth-team players.Richard Pacquette and an unnamed trialist netted for the Minstermen, whose manager Martin Foyle took the opportunity to check out two French trialists and an Australian during the behind-closed-doors match.
“It was a great workout and just what we needed at facilities that were fantastic," Foyle told the Press.
“It was a different type of game to what our younger lads would normally play in. They got to see how the top professionals keep possession.
“It was good for them to play against the likes of Jimmy Bullard and Anthony Gardner. The other players like Geovanni were also training at the same time and it was funny to see a few jaws drop because they are only human.”
Regarding his unnamed trialists Foyle commented: “One of them fared quite well but he picked up a groin injury.”
