York City winger Simon Russell has extended his loan spell at Tamworth until the transfer window next opens in January.

And the two clubs have already begun talks regarding a permanent move for the former Kidderminster Harriers wide-man in the New Year.

Russell was originally signed by ex-York boss Colin Walker in August last year and went on to make 24 senior appearances for the Minstermen.

But he has failed to feature so far this term under Martin Foyle and was sent out on loan in September to Tamworth, for whom he has since made six appearances.
