York City's out-of favour winger Simon Russell is expected to complete a permanent move to Blue Square Premier rivals Tamworth.

The Lambs are keen to sign the former Kidderminster Harriers wide-man following the end of a recent loan spell in which he made six appearances.

York boss Martin Foyle confirmed to the Press: “They want Simon and we are waiting to hear back from him and his agent now so hopefully something will be resolved in the next couple of days.”

Hull-born Russell was originally signed by former City boss Colin Walker in August 2008, but has so far failed to be involved at senior level this term.

The 24-year-old managed only sixteen starts and eight substitute appearances in just over a year for the Minstermen.

His last outing was though as a late substitute at Wembley Stadium in the FA Trophy final defeat to Stevenage Borough back in May.
