The lads gave me 100% - Foyle

By Steve Jones
Wednesday, 10th March 2010
York City manager Martin Foyle refused to blame his players after his side suffered a fourth straight defeat and fifth loss in six games against Salisbury City at Bootham Crescent.

The Minstermen took the lead just before the break through former Salisbury defender Djoumin Sangare. But their opponents responded with two goals inside the opening twenty minutes of the second-half to eventually come out 2-1 winners in front of York's lowest home league attendance of the season. Martin Foyle

"The lads gave me one hundred percent, which is what I asked them for," Foyle told BBC Radio York.

"The supporters clapped them off at the end - they saw the effort was there. But unfortunately there's no quality to be seen around at the moment.

"We had enough chances. We put balls into the box,"  he added.

"I thought they worked hard and I'm not going to criticise them."

Reece Connolly began the visitors comeback with a superb strike early in the second period.

"It was a magnificent finish wasn't it. You've got to take your hat off to that sometimes. But again that just dampened us at the wrong time," continued Foyle.

"Credit to Salisbury. They were sold, they were orgainsed - didn't really create a lot. The amount of corners we had and free-kicks, and balls into the box towards the end. But it wasn't to be, so it's a really frustrating time at the moment.

"We're not really doing a lot different other than we're not playing as much football as what I'd like to play."
