York City boss Martin Foyle will take the opportunity to rest players for the FA Cup fourth qualifying round home match against part-timers Bedworth United.

Foyle is confident that the overall strength of his squad can allow the changes, which should witness the likes of David McGurk, Levi Mackin, Craig Nelthorpe and Adam Boyes each handed starts.

Leading scorer Richard Brodie could be one of those left out as he is currently only one caution away from a suspension. Meanwhile, left-back James Meredith returns from a one-match ban, although Foyle is likely to persist with on loan Oxford United defender Chris Carruthers.

Foyle told the Press: “I wouldn’t call any of our players fringe players. They are all part of our squad and playing them won’t make us any weaker because we will be totally respecting the opposition.

“We’ve thought long and hard about it before and have decided we might make a few changes. The team that does play has got to be ready to put them under pressure from the word go though.”

He was also quick to warn: “We need to avoid sloppiness. We know we can play football at a good tempo and move them around.

“We’ve got to take our chances as well because we don’t want a repeat of Salisbury. If we can score early it eases the anxiety and pressure because the chairman wants money from the FA Cup and the supporters want goals in games like these."

For the visitors, left-back Sam Shilton - the son of former England legendary goalkeeper Peter - faces a late fitness test on a hamstring injury, while striker Ashley Robinson should replace the ineligible Jerome Murdock.
