York City chase a place in the FA Trophy third round when Newport County visit KitKat Crescent for their replay on Tuesday evening (kick-off 7.45pm).
The Minstermen will be hoping to finish the task following their scoreless draw in South Wales just under a week ago. And manager Martin Foyle is expected to be boosted by the return of midfielder Alex Lawless and striker Michael Gash after they both missed the weekend victory at Cambridge United.
“Alex Lawless and Michael Gash are both available and will come back into contention," Foyle told The Press.
“Our numbers are quite big now in terms of who can play and we have a few decisions to make.
“Three or four had a rest last week and we might need to look at giving one or two of the others a break for this game.
“We will be looking at everything and everybody."
One of those could be 27-goal top scorer Richard Brodie, who is only one booking away from a two-match ban after collecting his ninth of the campaign at the Abbey Stadium. Should he reach fifteen before the end of the season, he would then receive a further three-match suspension.
“I suppose you could look at it and try to hand-pick when a two-match ban would most suit us, but I’m more worried about him reaching 15 now," admitted Foyle.
“Richard is a fantastic lad, but we’ve got to slow him down a bit and I’ve had a chat with him.”
Newport beat St Albans 5-0 on Saturday to re-open a fourteen-point lead at the top of Blue Square South.
That extended their latest run to five matches without conceding a goal and thirteen without defeat.
Former Torquay United centre-back Chris Todd made his debut for them at the weekend. But having already appeared in the competition on loan for Salisbury City, he will drop out and probably be replaced by Paul Cochlin.
Midfielder Wayne Turk is a doubt with a neck injury and Scott Rogers stands by to once again deputise, while Sam Foley will contest a starting place with the recently recalled Dave Gilroy.
“The trip to York will be another good test for us at a Football League standard ground but the league is what is most important to us," manager Dean Holdsworth reassured.
