York City have made around £150,000 from their run to the third round of the FA Cup according to communications director Sophie Hicks.
"We lose around £300,000 a year without a cup run or the sale of a player, so this is really, really important for us," she told BBC Radio York.
"We had our two minutes in the sun, it was a fantastic moment, to go ahead and to score was really important."
"All in all, I think our team did really, really well. The team did us proud, it was a great day," Hicks added.
"It was brilliant for the 4,000 fans who had travelled there, we occupied all of one end behind the goal.
"The fans were absolutely brilliant, they were noisy from start to finish.
"We jumped up in the directors' box (when York scored). I'd been given a blanket from the Stoke chairman's wife, a tartan blanket, and that went up in the air.
"I don't think they'd seen anything quite like it."
