York City will have to explain their late arrival at the weekend for their FA Cup third round tie at Stoke City.
The Football Association are waiting for a response from the club after their delayed arrival saw the kick-off put back half-an-hour at the Britannia Stadium.
“We’ve asked the club to explain why they were late for the match," an FA spokesman said.
“The FA will then meet up with the FA Cup committee to decide whether any further sanction is required or not.
“There is no real framework for sanctions and there aren’t many precedents of teams being late for FA Cup ties.
“The adverse weather conditions will obviously be taken into account with travel being disrupted throughout the country.
“But what will need to be decided is whether the club made every effort to ensure they made kick off in time.”
