York City have received a written warning from the Football Association after their delighted fans invaded the
pitch at the end of their recent FA Cup victory over Crewe Alexandra.
Following the warning a statement released by the club said that a repeat performance could result in 'severe consequences.'
The statement read: “Although it was acknowledged that there was a high level of enthusiasm and celebration resulting from the late winning goal against Crewe, the club have received a written warning from the FA about the incident and are threatened with disciplinary action if there are any further incidents of this kind.
“The club maintain a high level of stewarding at all home games and we ask for full co-operation from our supporters on matchday conduct in maintaining safety regulations and accepting full guidance from our safety officer and his staff as appropriate.
“Otherwise the club is at high risk, with severe consequences, causing trouble for us all. We need supporters to be mindful of the rules and to stick to them.”
