York City's leading scorer Richard Brodie has been called into the England 'C' squad for their international fixture with Poland next month.
Eleven-goal Brodie has been included in a sixteen-man squad, but would have to withdraw should the Minstermen draw with next weekend's FA Cup first round opponents Crewe Alexandra. That is because any replay would clash with the international scheduled for the Inter Groclin Auto S.A.Stadium in Grodzisk Wielkopolski on Tuesday 17th November.
The 22-year-old Gateshead-born striker last wore the Three Lions shirt in Bosnia in 2008.
Manager Martin Foyle told BBC Radio York: "It's fantastic for the player I think it's good for the club.
"I think people probably recognise how much he's improved in recent months. I'm delighted for the lad and he thoroughly deserves it."
Meanwhile, FC Halifax Town’s 21-year-old goalkeeper Jonathan Hedge is the only newcomer and non-Conference player in the squad.
