York City manager Gary Mills is hoping to sign Barrow's prolific 26-year-old striker Jason Walker.

Mills had already confessed an interest in the former Morecambe striker who has scored more than fifty goals for the Cumbrians and is out of contract in the summer.

Jason Walker But the Minstermen will need to fight off a challenge for his services from Fleetwood Town after rumours they have already submitted a £30,000 bid for the freescoring striker.

"He is a player I rate and someone that I have looked at," Mills told The Press.

"He`s a goalscorer and the type of player I would like in my side.

"He`s somebody I have enquired about but Barrow obviously don`t want to lose him."

The York boss has already signed Leicester City striker Ashley Chambers and Sunderland midfielder Robbie Weir on loan this week in an effort to boost attacking options.                York City are keen on Barrow striker Jason Walker
