York City manager Martin Foyle has his eyes firmly set on catching current Blue Square Premier leaders Oxford United.
The U's are five points clear of second-placed Stevenage Borough at the moment, while York are in third and a further four points behind. Chris Wilder's side also have one-match in hand on both of their nearest challengers.
But Foyle says that the Minstermen will continue to pursue his former club: “We’ve just got to try and close that gap and won’t let anyone here take their foot off the pedal," he told The Press.
“Oxford scored another late goal in midweek, though, to win another game and they are good at that. Chris Wilder did his homework and paid the best money for the best players in the summer and has brought another couple in recently.
“I think that will get them out of this league because when they get injuries they have such a big squad it does not affect them. We know we have a problem being thin defensively at the moment, but we are never going to give up chasing," added Foyle.
“At the start of the season, we were looking at the top eight or ten because anything can happen from there and I still think there are 11 teams in with a chance of the play-offs.”
