Two goals from Matty Blair earned York City a welcome first league win in five games at the expense of lowly Lincoln City at Sincil Bank.

Matty BlairBlair swept the visitors into a 64th minute lead after Jamie Reed's shot was charged down before heading a second from Danny Pilkington's superb cross eight minutes later.

The opening half had proved a total non-event with Patrick McLaughlin sending a 20-yard free-kick marginally over for the visitors as both sides struggled for quality.

The Minstermen certainly improved after the break with their front three getting much more into the game. McLaughlin and Pilkington were both wide before ex-Lincoln skipper Scott Kerr found Reed inside the area and after his initial shot was blocked the supporting Blair calmly slotted into the far corner.

Blair and new signing Scott Brown each had further efforts deflected behind until Blair headed his tenth goal of the campaign at the near post from Pilkington's inviting left-footed cross from the right.

Another great ball in from Pilkington was immediately headed narrowly over by Reed, who then drove straight at keeper Joe Anyon before his opposite number Michael Ingham was finally forced into collecting Lincoln's only effort on target from Alan Power in added time.
