Substitute Jamie Reed earned York City a narrow 1-0 victory over bottom club Bath City after both sides missed a penalty at Bootham Crescent.
The former Bangor City striker was thrown on for the final five minutes as his colleagues struggled to break down tenacious opposition. He responded with a sublime volley into the roof of the net just a couple of minutes later after Andre Boucaud's corner had been headed back by Jason Walker.
Walker had earlier wasted the chance of his seventh goal of the season when blazing a penalty over the bar after Jon Challinor had been brought down inside the area right on the stroke of half-time.
Bath also missed a penalty at that same end following the break when Ben Swallow drove too close to Michael Ingham after being taken down by the former Northern Ireland international.
The visitors had much the best of the opening half with Lee Phillips, Marley Watkins and Swallow each trying their luck and causing moments of anxiety for Ingham. By contrast York were deserately poor at the other end until Jamal Fyfield narrowly headed over an Ashley Chambers corner.
The Minstermen improved after the break with Bath goalkeeper Glynn Garner denying Challinor, Chambers and Danny Pilkington, while Walker also shot wide of the far post before Reed's late and dramatic rescue act.
