Ashley Chambers struck a late winner as York City were forced to come from behind to defeat a determined Grimsby Town side at Bootham Crescent.

Ashley Chambers The Mariners took a shock lead on four minutes when midfielder Craig Disley looped a header over Michael Ingham from Rob Duffy's cross.

But York still appeared well in control with leading scorer Jason Walker then drilling a first-time shot at goalkeeper James McKeown before having a fierce point-blank header brilliantly saved after Matty Blair delivered.

Their equaliser was certainly deserved when it finally came with Jon Challinor's 34th minute cross being magnificently despatched overhead by Walker for his twelfth goal of the campaign.

However, Disley could soon have added a second for the visitors against the run of play when Ingham saved well before Patrick McLaughlin and Andre Boucaud replied from 25-yards either side of the interval.

And Grimsby weren't without threat on the break during the second-half either, with Michael Coulson and Liam Hearn each having efforts and substitute Anthony Elding dragging wide before being ruled offside.

York were still though much the better side and continued to demonstrate their patient, attractive passing style without ever quite appearing as dangerous, at least until substitute Adriano Moké set up Chambers for  a deserved winner from inside the area with just four minutes remaining.
